Nashville Season 5: Connie Britton has only signed on for 10 episodes
CMT finally announced the returning of a season five of Nashville, America’s musical drama. Connie Britton, who also is a producer on the country music drama, has only signed on for 10episodes so far of the 22-episode season.
ABC, Co-producer of the show, pulled the plug on Nashville after fourth season in May. The new season will be produces by CMT and Hulu. Shortly after the Hulu-CMT deal was formalized, nine of the show’s stars, including Britton and Hayden Panettiere, signed on to return. All nine at the time were confirmed for 22 episodes except Britton.
For CMT, the idea is to “not only use Nashville to bring viewers to the channel, but as a spark plug to ignite interest in all of our other (shows),” says programming chief Jayson Dinsmore.
